LOCAL BUSINESSBEHIND THE SCENES

One of the things I love the most about my job is getting a behind-the-scenes look at businesses that are genuinely passionate about what they do.

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend the day filming a feature video for an incredible catering company here in the Fraser Valley. This video was a project for the owner who got nominated for RBC Woman of Influence+.

From the moment I arrived at their location, yes, you heard that right, they have their own location for catering. Which is highly uncommon, and as they said to me, the only one of their kind locally. As I learned, most catering companies only show up on location.

The owner, Elizabeth, wanted a place to do her work fast, clean, and outside her house. In doing so she also made a place where her clients can come to a place that not only smells amazing but offers a personal service on a large live-edge table top for meetings or events. I am a sucker for live-edge anything if you couldn't tell.

I knew right away, this wasn't a regular catering company, from the private space, the food being prepped right in front of you and the quality of the food as it was customarily prepared for every client individually. This made everything feel special.

As someone who documents many types of businesses and events, I found this company to feel very personal.

What stood out to me the most was how much care went into the process. Most catering companies have a set menu like a restaurant. However, Fresh Impressions Catering chose to break away from that cookie-cutter approach. Instead, Elizabeth asks the client their preferences, tastes and what to stay away from. This really made the service feel professional and customized to taste.

That to me really reflected why Fresh Impressions Catering is so busy throughout the year and why Elizabeth got nominated.

I love seeing how many hats a business owner has to wear, not just simply running a business. It takes leadership, problem-solving, teaching, planning, relationship-building, and constantly finding ways to serve the community. This is more than just providing food to people.

As a filmmaker, shoots like this are always fun because good food always looks good on camera. The colour, texture, movement and energy of a busy kitchen creates beautiful visuals.

I just wish I could share the smell on video. The best way for you to smell the amazing food is to just book an event there.

After spending the day with Fresh Impressions Catering, I see why so many people trust them with their events and teaching food safety. The professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to quality are evident in everything they do. Most importantly, they truly care about the people they serve, and I think that's what separates great businesses from average ones.

If you are planning an event in the Fraser Valley and looking for a catering company that delivers exceptional food, outstanding service, and a truly unique experience, I can confidently say they should be at the top of your list.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to tell a small part of their story, and I hope this gives others a glimpse into the passion, hard work, and dedication that make Fresh Impressions Catering such a valuable part of our community.
