Mission-Vyper Powwow 2026 Photo Gallery

The VYPER Pow Wow brought together youth, families, elders, dancers, drummers, vendors, and community members for a powerful weekend of culture, connection, and belonging. I had the honour of photographing the gathering for the second year in a row and had an amazing time!

A little BTS before we talk about the event. I was fortunate enough to be able to get the help of 5 other professionals who helped make this year's documentation run smoothly. I had a project manager to run over everything, such as photo expectations, video deliverables, and keeping us on track with upcoming dances and events. I had a photographer who ran the camera the entire weekend and three videographers. I wanted the best quality photos for this event, so I rented the Sony A7v, which was absolutely amazing (blog post about that camera soon). I also used FX3s and the Sony A7s3. This was to get the best possible image all day and allow for the low lighting when the sun set. These all factored in to give us the best result possible, and I am so happy to have such an amazing team to put this vision together.

This Powwow is about getting people together, just like all other Powwows, however, the Mission Powwow is different because Vyper gets youth to run the event. It takes the passion of the future leaders to get the Powwow together and to keep it going. Giving the highest cultural responsibility to them is an honour that they took seriously, and it shows, from staying on time with events, keeping people fed, and making sure everyone is taken care of with water and shade. They were there, and their love for culture shone through.

Vyper was made for the youth, to give them a safe space to express themselves, support their wellbeing and create a place of belonging. Seeing familiar faces, year after year, only proves that their energy is what makes this Powwow special.

You could feel the excitement throughout the weekend, and the photos we captured of everyone from youth, leaders, elders, dancers, drummers, families, vendors, to even the furry friends that made it out. If you attended at any point over the weekend, we most likely captured a photo of you. Please take a look and share the gallery with your friends and family. There are only a few moments where we did not capture any photos or videos, due to respecting traditional Powwow customs, which we take very seriously. Some moments are best to live in and to be experienced in person with your own eyes with your loved ones. Other than that, we captured and delivered well over 1000 images that we have shared below :)

I think my favourite moment throughout the weekend was when my team and I were asked to come to the centre of the circle to do a lap, then get handshakes from the community. I want my team and the community to know that I love what I do and that these stories should be shared! So to be honoured in a traditional way meant so much to my team and me, and I'll keep that in my heart forever.

Lastly, I want to say thank you to Vyper, the organizers, youth, elders, dancers, drummers, vendors, volunteers, families and community members who all came out to make another Powwow unforgettable!
